Rock Climbing

We Have Reached the Top!
JWUMC Youth get ready to do some climbing

This past Saturday, the John Wesley Youth Group traveled to Carabiner's Indoor Climbing Gym in New Bedford for an evening of climbing and fun. The goal of the evening was to challenge ourselves to climb higher. Youth put their climbing skills to the test on the bouldering wall, the rope ladder, the chain ladder, and many of the routes that stretch three stories above the ground. Most of our young climbers reached the top of quite a few different routes, and just about everyone climbed higher than they thought they could.

Racing to the top
After the climbing was done, we ate some pizza and talked about what we noticed. In climbing, you have to rely on the rope and the person belaying you to keep you safe. We discussed who we rely on in our lives to keep up safe. It was a great discussion and I think we walked away with a better appreciation for all the wonderful people we have in our lives. It was a great trip and we can't wait to return again and climb even higher!
